Famous French cutler: Opinel in Savoy
The name "Opinel" is widely used as a synonym for a pocket folding knife throughout France. The hearty pocket knife was invented in 1890 by Joseph Opinel in the mountain village of Albiez-Le-Vieux. To this day, it is considered to be THE cult knife of French everyday culture. With us you get the in Germany popular penknife in four different versions and optionally with a blade as stainless steel or carbon steel.
Meanwhile, the great-grandson of the company founder manages Opinel. Unchanged is the logo with the crowned hand, which has its origins in the coat of arms of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. The product range at Opinel but was repeatedly enlarged. The experience in blade forging and the know-how of knife production also benefit the sharp kitchen knives from Opinel.
