Valuable knife creation: Midi-Pyrénées - Laguiole HornA very well-known folding knife in the whole of France is the Laguiole. It has been produced in Thiers for more than 100 years. In the small town of Auvergne, the tradition of fine knives has been practiced since the 14th century. Model for the Laguiole is an ancient knife type that once widespread Yssingeaux.
Originally made only in Laguoile, the pocket knife was forged after the move of some Couteliers later in Thiers. Here you changed the shape of the handle and gave it the pithy momentum. The cheeks at both ends were also added to Thiers. Typical for the Laguiole is the "bee" or fly at the widened resort. Originally part of an old spring system, it remained as a pure decorative element with high recognition value.
