Handy French penknife: Auvergne - Aurillac horn
Aurillac is the capital of the department of Cantal in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. However, the Aurillac knives of the same name have been forged since about 1900 in Thiers.
As a material for the handles serve regionally available materials, such as the robust wood of old yews from the surrounding mountains or cattle horn with its natural color and structure as in this slender pocket knife. The bowls of the jewelry are slightly curved and fastened with rivets on the boards.
The slight curvature at the bottom caused by the blade type makes the handle very handy, it fits smoothly to the palm. Elongated jaws made of stainless steel form the conclusion of the handle to the blade side. The stainless blade of the fine pocket knife made of 12C27 steel is slightly bulbous, runs mid-point and bears the logo of the famous manufactory Au Nain.
